ASHEVILLE, NC • July 13-15, 2020

Join us this summer in the mountains of North Carolina for Unstoppable! We know there are times where we want to "stop" because being involved in ministry at any level takes an enormous amount of energy. Every leader needs a time and place to be filled up again: spiritually, emotionally and relationally.

This is what Unstoppable is for! A great destination for a family vacation along with a conference that will be remembered for a long time. Your kids will love the day camp experience of Scream Ministries. Your youth will connect with other Vineyard youth from the three regions and worship will be off the charts. You won't want to miss Unstoppable.

Phil Strout is the National Director of Vineyard USA, an association of approximately 600 congregations nationwide. He brings over thirty-five years of experience in the areas of church planting and cross-cultural missions to his role, and is a self-described contemplative activist – with a focus on the deepening interior journey of the Christian being the catalyst for sustainable, fruitful longevity in life, faith, and mission. For several years, Phil served in the Vineyard on the board of directors for Vineyard USA, as a Regional Leader, and as the Senior Pastor of Pathway Vineyard Church, a multisite church based in Lewiston, Maine. He has also done extensive work in church planting around the world, especially in Latin America, and along with his wife, Jan, is bilingual (English/Spanish). Phil is the author of God’s Relentless Pursuit: Discovering His Heart for Humanity, and THRIVE: How to Successfully Navigate the S-Turns of Leadership. He brings a non-hyped, down-to-earth, passionately authentic spirit and vision to leading the Vineyard Movement in its divine assignment.

Geno Olison is the lead pastor of the South Suburban Vineyard, a multiethnic church in the south suburbs of Chicago. He is a gifted leader and communicator who has devoted his life to church planting and cross-cultural ministry. He currently serves on the National Executive Team for Vineyard USA and is helping to lead key diversity initiatives within the Vineyard. He is passionate about helping people build cross-cultural relationships through the local church. Geno and his wife, Shannon, have four sons, Joseph, Elijah, Joshua, and Ezekiel. They have been having an exciting time of settling into the community, adding to the family and growing a multicultural church in the suburbs of Chicago.

Julia Pickerill serves as one of the Associate Pastors at Vineyard Columbus and in 2021, alongside her husband, Eric, will assume role as co-Senior Pastor. Julia joined Vineyard in 1996 after being introduced to the church by a close friend and Vineyard church planter. Julia worked in various capacities at the church including preaching at Joshua House and traveling to teach at conferences and retreats around the Vineyard movement. In 2005, Julia became the youngest woman to preach at a Vineyard National Pastors’ Conference. In 2008, the Pickerills led a team from Vineyard Columbus to plant a church in Amsterdam, Netherlands. They served as co-Senior Pastors at Vineyard Amsterdam for seven years, while helping to establish the first Sustainable Faith School for Spiritual Direction in Europe. After relocating back to the US in 2015, Julia practiced as a Spiritual Director and joined staff in 2018 as Pastor for Staff Care and Formation. Julia received her B.A. in English Literature from OSU and is a trained Spiritual Director through the School of Sustainable Faith.

Jay Pathak is the Lead Pastor of the Mile High Vineyard. Prior to planting the church in 2001, he served as a leader in the Columbus Vineyard’s young-adult ministry, Joshua House, and as an intern to the senior pastor, Rich Nathan, in Columbus, Ohio. He has spoken nationally and internationally for Vineyard and other groups in both conference and classroom settings. In addition, he is a member of Vineyard USA’s Executive Team. Committed to engaging and impacting those outside the church walls, Jay co-wrote the book, The Art of Neighboring, with Dave Runyon. This unique and challenging book asks the question: “What is the most loving thing I can do for the people who live right next door?” Jay has a BA in Philosophy from The Ohio State University and is a graduate of the Vineyard Leadership Institute. He and his wife, Danielle, were married in 1998 and have two daughters, Jasmine and Sofia.

KIDS and Youth

We are so excited to have Mark Manuel and Tony Portell directing kids and youth programming for ages 2-17. Both of them have a heart and passion to see students dive into their identities in Christ, and we are excited to have them oversee our kids and youth programming! Bring your youth groups, and bring your kids! We’ll be releasing the schedule and fun activities that they’ll be doing in the Asheville area.

Nestled in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, distractions from everyday life fall away the moment you arrive. Vacation destinations are close by such as the Blue Ridge Mountains,  the Nantahala white water center and the Biltmore Hotel. It’s a family-style conference where we eat together, stay at the same conference center hotel and worship together. You will just park your car for the week and enjoy a refreshing and relaxed schedule encountering God and His people.
